Lessons from London

Marcia always finds a lesson in planting design when she visits London. During her recent November visit, the Royal Parks of St. James were getting spruced up and looked lovely despite the late season. Late-flowering annuals and perennials—red-leaved Amaranth, big blue Salvia 'Black and Blue' and Sedum 'Autumn Joy'—were still holding strong, backed by golden-leaved shrubbery that added depth and warmth to the landscape.

What struck Marcia most was the masses of various shrubs left to grow naturally, their forms and structures revealed through thoughtful pruning. It's an approach she strives for at Gardens to Love. In Atlanta, where plant growth is robust, proper pruning becomes even more important to showcase the beauty and integrity of each plant.

Marcia champions the use of specimen plants—or allowing what you already have to become one. With proper pruning, room to grow, and the right plant in the right place, Gardens to Love helps transform landscapes into spaces that balance natural beauty with intentional design.
