This is the time of year when it seems as if summer is being held in suspension. The temperatures don’t change much nor does the garden ... Hydrangea flowers have matured.

In June, I had the opportunity to take a busman's holiday to travel with The Cultural Landscape Foundation to study gardens in the Normandy region of France. This area is similar to Atlanta in topography and lush countryside but with cooler daytime temperatures.
